Texas and Colorado Rancher Shad Sullivan Explains How He Makes It Work

By Jim Mundorf

Something a lot of folks don't realize is the cattle industry is incredibly diverse. An animal can be sold 3 to 4 times before it is ready to be butchered. Depending where you are located, there are a number of different ways guys and gals try to make a living off of cattle, none of them easy.

Shad Sullivan runs yearling cattle in Texas during the winter and hauls them to Colorado for the summer. I was rolling through Texas last year and Shad invited me to stop by. I was just starting to think about doing more videos, and my plan was to talk to him about some of the topics facing the cattle industry, which we did.

The problem was I didn't really know how to edit videos. The plan was to use these to figure it out, but when I got home I got incredibly busy with orders and as time went by the topics discussed became a little outdated. Luckily I also had the camera going when Shad was telling me how he got to Texas, and how his operation works. I finally was able to sit down and edit into something that made sense.
